DATA ARCHIVE

Most of the data shown here is available

on application to ARA.

Some of it may only be used for research purposes.

If you would like to get the data, send an email to

data@airborneresearch.org.au

and tell us who you are and

what you would like to use the data for.

Data is provided "as is" - in a form as is available from the archive without further processing. If further processing is required/desired, please state this in your email and we will see what we can do.

Whenever the data is used in any publication or presentation,

ARA needs to be informed and acknowledged.

Over the next few weeks and months, many more data sets will become available here - from most of our sensors.

LiDAR

LiDAR data is usually available as
laz-files for discrete returns
and in GeoLAS- and  PulseWave-format for waveforms.
Other formats are also available by request.

Hardware used for acquisition

of LiDAR and Navigation data

  • NovAtel SPAN-LCI, SPAN-ISA

ARA In-house software, metadata and Acquisition Report for most datasets are available on request.

Software used for initial processing

of LiDAR and Navigation data

  • ARA in-house software - RASP & PPREP

All LiDAR scans flown in 2015

using either the RIEGL Q560/240 or Q680i-S or both

WA2015

The main purpose of the study was to map Dinosaur footprints around Broome and the Dampier Peninsula in a joint ARC-funded project with Steve Salisbury from the University of Queensland and others.

Secondary purposes were collaborations with Mick O'Leary (Curtin University), Ryan Lowe (UWA) and Jeff Hansen (UWA) to study Cape Range and the Ningaloo Coast; and with Lynnath Beckley (Murdoch University) and Scott Whiting (DPaW) to establish a baseline in terms of LiDAR and hyperspectral images along the coast from Mundabullangana via the 80 Mile Beach to Broome and then on to Willie Creek.

- Trans-Australia Railway between Forrest and Kalgoorlie;

- parts of Cape Range and Ningaloo Coast near Exmouth;

- most of the coast line from Mundabullangana to Broome;

- the coast from Broome to the North for about 70km.

LiDAR: Q680i-S

Hyperspectral: EAGLE II

Aerial photos: CANON EOS 1D and 5D

Aerial video: 2 x GoPRO

Not all sensors were used for all sections.

Some data may not be available immediately.

For some examples, see here.

BRDF

Study of BRDF effects in collaboration with Landcare NZ and a pine plantation near Kingaroy in collaboration with Jun Zhou et al from Griffith University.

- Transect from just inland of Brisbane to the middle of the Simpson Desert;

- some features from Oodnadatta to Adelaide.

LiDAR: Q680i-S

Two fish-eye CANON cameras for BRDF (owned by Landcare NZ)

Aerial video: 2 x GoPRO

Not all sensors were used for all sections.

Some data may not be available immediately.

INJUNE 2015

Study of native vegetation near Injune/Queensland in collaboration with John Armston (DSITI) and Richard Lucas (UNSW).

- Fifteen 35km long strips plus some other transects.

LiDAR: Q680i-S & Q560/240

Hyperspectral: EAGLE II & HAWK

Aerial photos: CANON EOS 1D

Some data may not be available immediately.

SALINE PONDS

Study of saline ponds near St. Kilda in collaboration with Ridley Corp. and CSIRO

- very dense transects over the saline ponds.

LiDAR: Q560/240

Aerial photos: CANON EOS 1D/5D

Aerial Video: GoPRO

Some data may not be available immediately.

There is more data of this area in the 2014 section
